The BASTA Coalition of Washington formed in 2017 focuses on prevention and elimination of sexual harassment in agriculture. We bring together farmworkers, researchers, advocates, and state officials to prevent farmworker sexual harassment through advocacy, education, and policy solutions. In 2021, we received legislative funding via a 2-year Budget Proviso to prevent farmworker sexual harassment through peer-to-peer training. Our Peer Training Project has continued with additional legislative funding and to date we've trained 308 farmworkers across the Yakima Valley. We also continue to provide workplace sexual harassment prevention training utilizing the BASTA! Prevent Sexual Harassment in Agriculture Training & Toolkit created with the University of Washington's Pacific Northwest Agricultural Safety & Health (PNASH) Center.
